#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER #1 USA TODAY BESTSELLER "RUSSIAN ROULETTE is...the most thorough and riveting account." --The New York Times The incredible, harrowing account of how American democracy was hacked by Moscow as part of a covert operation to influence the U.S. election and help Donald Trump gain the presidency. RUSSIAN ROULETTE is a story of political skullduggery unprecedented in American history. It weaves together tales of international intrigue, cyber espionage, and superpower rivalry. After U.S.-Russia relations soured, as Vladimir Putin moved to reassert Russian strength on the global stage, Moscow trained its best hackers and trolls on U.S. political targets and exploited WikiLeaks to disseminate information that could affect the 2016 election. The Russians were wildly successful and the great break-in of 2016 was no "third-rate burglary." It was far more sophisticated and sinister -- a brazen act of political espionage designed to interfere with American democracy. At the end of the day, Trump, the candidate who pursued business deals in Russia, won. And millions of Americans were left wondering, what the hell happened? This story of high-tech spying and multiple political feuds is told against the backdrop of Trump's strange relationship with Putin and the curious ties between members of his inner circle -- including Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn -- and Russia. RUSSIAN ROULETTE chronicles and explores this bizarre scandal, explains the stakes, and answers one of the biggest questions in American politics: How and why did a foreign government infiltrate the country's political process and gain influence in Washington?

Roulette game has been around for centuries and yet gamblers have gone broke just over 2.7% house edge. Now you may laugh at me and comment that I am losing 2.7% at every spin cumulatively. Of course you are right in saying that and you may tell me that it is highly negative expected value in the long run. But can you ignore these facts Roulette will produce winning and losing streaks Roulette will allow gamblers to win big by giving them 36 times of whatever they put straight up If a person goes hot and gets 2 times a number correct he stands to win 36*36 times the amount bet consecutively. Giving you returns of 1296 times or if you just bet 25 dollars which anyone can afford to lose in a casino he will have won 32 thousand 400 dollars or $32,400. Now with such low house edges anyone can go on a hot streak, but everyone loses. And now if I tell you I have a system that will allow you to take shots at the game of Roulette and if you win you compound your profits and cut losses and take profits then certainly the casinos will a lot fun, a lot entertainment and a hell lot more fun, then would you deny it? In this manual and in the coming pages I am going to convey to you the secrets of my winning system of Roulette, every Roulette player must read this book at least one and what have you got to lose? You are just going to get saved a lot of money and this is an indispensable guide to winning in casinos a cart full of money, all crisp 100 dollar bundles. And who knows you may even break the bank at roulette table. A lot of players go to the casinos and assume they are lucky and going to win and this is the wrong mentality to win at poker, because if you believe you are going to win you are going to compound your losses following bad strategies like Martingale. The Martingale strategy works best for the casino and they prevent losses by limiting the maximum amount of bets that could be placed and of course players like you and me don't have access to infinite resources that will allow us to keep doubling our bets forever. We need to win big and we need to win with a small amount of money. In this manual I am going to give you solid advice that will allow players to reduce the house edge of casinos and who knows if everyone read my book probably the casinos will stop the game of Roulette altogether. Because I have a system that really does beat the casinos. And the rules which I will tell you precisely in later part of the book are as follows 1.Take Profits 2.Try to go on a hot streak 3.Cut losses 4.Go for big wins like betting straight up 5.An intuitive pattern recognition system that makes phrases out of meaningless numbers for identification of wheel bias. (This works on every Roulette Wheel in Vegas, Atlantic City, every casino in the world and all machines open and closed and even automatic Roulette machines which have a ball inside a chamber) This is a short book that will give you the right tools to approach the game of Roulette and every chapter will convey the topics that I have told you above and you must use all of these tools at once so that you will make big money or be break-even or have very little losses in the game of Roulette. Good Luck and wish you a lot of fun and entertainment in the casinos."

The Gambler is a short novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky about a young tutor in the employment of a formerly wealthy Russian general. The novella reflects Dostoyevsky's own addiction to roulette, which was in more ways than one the inspiration for the book: Dostoyevsky completed the novella under a strict deadline to pay off gambling debts. The first-person narrative is told from the point of view of Alexei Ivanovich, a tutor working for a Russian family living in a suite at a German hotel. The patriarch of the family, The General, is indebted to the Frenchman Des Grieux and has mortgaged his property in Russia to pay only a small amount of his debt. Upon learning of the illness of his wealthy aunt, "Grandmother", he sends streams of telegrams to Moscow and awaits the news of her demise. His expected inheritance will pay his debts and gain Mademoiselle De Cominges's hand in marriage. One day while Polina and Alexei are on a walk they see a Baron and Baroness. Polina dares him to insult the aristocratic couple and he does so with little hesitation. This sets off a chain of events that details Madame de Cominges's interest in the General and gets Alexei fired as tutor of the General's children. Shortly after this, Grandmother shows up and surprises the whole party of debtors and indebted. She tells them all that she knows all about the General's debt and why the French man and woman are waiting around the suite day after day. She leaves the party of death-profiteers by saying that none of them are getting any of her money. She then asks Alexei to be her guide around the town famous for its healing waters and infamous for its casino where the tables are stacked with piles of gold; she wants to gamble. Alexei starts to gamble to survive. One day he passes Mr. Astley on a park bench in Bad Homburg and has a talk with him. He finds out from Astley that Polina is in Switzerland and actually does love him. Astley gives him some money but shows little hope that he will not use it for gambling. Alexei goes home dreaming of going to Switzerland the next day and recollects what made him win at the roulette tables in the past.

This classic of advanced statistics is geared toward graduate-level readers and uses the concepts of gambling to develop important ideas in probability theory. The authors have distilled the essence of many years' research into a dozen concise chapters. "Strongly recommended" by the Journal of the American Statistical Association upon its initial publication, this revised and updated edition features contributions from two well-known statisticians that include a new Preface, updated references, and findings from recent research. Following an introductory chapter, the book formulates the gambler's problem and discusses gambling strategies. Succeeding chapters explore the properties associated with casinos and certain measures of subfairness. Concluding chapters relate the scope of the gambler's problems to more general mathematical ideas, including dynamic programming, Bayesian statistics, and stochastic processes. Dover (2014) revised and updated republication of the 1976 Dover edition entitled Inequalities for Stochastic Processes. See every Dover book in print at

The world according to David Ives is a very add place, and his plays constitute a virtual stress test of the English language -- and of the audience's capacity for disorientation and delight. Ives's characters plunge into black holes called "Philadelphias," where the simplest desires are hilariously thwarted. Chimps named Milton, Swift, and Kafka are locked in a room and made to re-create Hamlet. And a con man peddles courses in a dubious language in which "hello" translates as "velcro" and "fraud" comes out as "freud." At once enchanting and perplexing, incisively intelligent and side-splittingly funny, this original paperback edition of Ives's plays includes "Sure Thing," "Words, Words, Words," "The Universal Language," "Variations on the Death of Trotsky," "The Philadelphia," "Long Ago and Far Away," "Foreplay, or The Art of the Fugue," "Seven Menus," "Mere Mortals," "English Made Simple," "A Singular Kinda Guy," "Speed-the-Play," "Ancient History," and "Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread." Graham Greene's 'long journey through time' began in 1904, when he was born into a tribe of Greenes based in Berkhamstead at the public school where his father was headmaster. In A Sort of Life Greene recalls schooldays and Oxford, adolescent encounters with psychoanalysis and Russian roulette, his marriage and conversion to Catholicism, and how he rashly resigned from The Times when his first novel, The Man Within was published in 1929. A Sort of Life reveals, brilliantly and compellingly, a life lived and an art obsessed by 'the dangerous edge of things'.

In September 2016, the provocative essay “The Flight 93 Election” galvanized many voters by spotlighting the stakes ahead in November and reproaching complacent elements of the Right. It also drew disparagement from many who judged it too apocalyptic in its assessment of the options facing the electorate. Its author, Michael Anton—writing as “Publius Decius Mus”—addressed the main criticisms of his argument soon afterward in a “Restatement on Flight 93.” A new criticism emerged later on: that he had painted a dire scenario to be averted, but no positive vision. Here, Anton presents the positive ideal that inspired him—a distillation of his thinking on Americanism and the West, refined over decades. He lays out the foundational principles of the American and Western traditions, examines the biggest threats to their survival, and underscores the necessity of continuing to defend them.

A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist follows an embattled Little League team in inner-city Newark, New Jersey, revealing the complex realities of urban life in one of America's most dangerous cities When Rodney Mason, an ex-con drug dealer from Newark's rough South Ward, was shot and paralyzed, he vowed to turn his life around. A former high-school pitching ace with a 93 mph fastball, Mason decided to form a Little League team to help boys avoid the street life that had claimed his youth and mobility. Predictably, the players struggle—they endure poverty, unstable family lives with few positive male role models, failing schools, and dangerous neighborhoods—but through the fists and tears, lopsided losses and rare victories, this bunch of misfits becomes a team, and in doing so gives the community something to root for. With in-depth reporting, fascinating characters, and vivid prose, Jonathan Schuppe's A Chance to Win is both a penetrating, true-to-life portrait of what's at stake for kids growing up poor in America's inner cities and a portrait of Newark itself, a struggling city that has recently known great hope as well as failure.
